Discover "Hidden Women", a creative Black history activity pack for ages 9–14 combining Queen Nzinga's story with art, geography, research prompts and printable activities.
Black history is part of our shared history.
"Hidden Women" is designed for children of every background. Through the stories of remarkable Black women, children can discover leadership, courage, creativity, resilience and determination — qualities that aren't limited by race or gender.
Designed for use at home or in the classroom, Hidden Women is a printable A4 digital resource combining history with creative activities. It is designed for both girls and boys and offers a way to explore African and Black history beyond the more commonly taught narratives of slavery and colonialism.
Boys benefit from discovering women as leaders, strategists and people who shaped their communities just as much as girls do, while children from different backgrounds have the opportunity to encounter people and perspectives they may not always meet in the history they learn.
This is not a resource just for Black girls. It is an invitation for every child to discover a broader and more inclusive view of history.
This first "Hidden Women" pack introduces children to Queen Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba through history, art and creative activities.
