Commission a Bespoke Artwork

Create a deeply personal painting that tells your story through richly layered texture, thoughtful composition and timeless craftsmanship

A commissioned painting offers the opportunity to create something deeply personal: an artwork shaped around your story, your memories and the atmosphere you want to bring into your home.

Working in my distinctive layered and textured style, I create bespoke paintings inspired by people, animals, meaningful places, African history and the restorative beauty of nature.

Each commission is developed in close conversation with you and created as an original artwork that cannot be repeated.

To ensure each painting receives the time and attention it deserves, I accept only a limited number of commissions throughout the year. Current availability: one space in November 2026, two in January and two in March 2027.

  • What Can I Commission?

I accept commissions that sit naturally alongside my existing body of work, including:

  • Portraits of individuals, couples and families
  • Meaningful portraits based on treasured photographs
  • Pet and wildlife paintings
  • Coastal and landscape-inspired artwork
  • African Queen paintings and culturally inspired portraits
  • Bespoke pieces developed around a particular colour palette, story or interior

I do not create exact copies of previous paintings. However, I can create a new and original artwork inspired by a particular piece, atmosphere or colour palette from my collections.

  • The Commission Process

1. Share Your Ideas

The process begins with a conversation about the person, story or subject you would like the painting to capture.

You can send photographs, preferred colours, room images and any meaningful details you would like me to consider.

2. Select Your Size

I will help you choose a suitable canvas size based on your preferred composition, number of subjects and the space where the painting will be displayed.

My smallest available commission size is A3.

3. Secure Your Commission

Once the concept, size and price have been agreed, a 50% non-refundable deposit secures your place in my commission diary.

The deposit reflects the planning, research, design development and studio time reserved specifically for your artwork.

4. Creating Your Painting

I will begin developing the composition and creating your painting using layers of professional acrylic paint, texture and mixed media.

You will receive progress photographs or videos at key stages during the process.

5. Final Approval and Delivery

Once the painting is complete, I will send final photographs for your approval before varnishing.

The remaining balance is payable before collection or delivery. Shipping is calculated separately according to the size and destination of the artwork.

  • Choosing Your Reference Photographs

Clear reference photographs help me capture the character, posture and atmosphere of the subject.

Natural daylight usually produces the best results. The subject should be clearly visible and ideally fill a good proportion of the image.

Photographs do not need to be professionally taken. I can often combine elements from several images and adjust clothing, backgrounds and colours where appropriate.

I am happy to review your photographs before you commit to a commission.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

What size should I choose?

Send me the dimensions of your wall and a photograph of the room. I can suggest a size and orientation that will suit the space.

Can you coordinate the artwork with my interior?

Yes. You are welcome to send photographs of your room, fabrics, furniture or existing décor. I can use these as a guide when developing the palette without making the painting feel overly matched.

Can you combine several photographs?

In many cases, yes. I can draw information from several reference images, provided the lighting, angles and quality give me enough detail to create a convincing composition.

Will I see the painting before it is finished?

You will receive progress photographs or videos at agreed stages. This allows us to review important details before the artwork is varnished.

Can you recreate one of your previous paintings?

Every original remains unique, so I do not reproduce an exact copy. I can create a new artwork with a related palette, subject or atmosphere.

How long will my commission take?

Timescales depend on the size and complexity of the artwork and the availability of commission spaces. Your expected completion period will be discussed before the booking is confirmed.

Do you offer payment plans?

The standard booking arrangement is a 50% deposit followed by the remaining balance before delivery. Alternative staged payments may be discussed for larger commissions.

Do you deliver internationally?

Yes. UK and international delivery can be arranged. Costs are calculated separately according to the size, packaging requirements and destination.
