Hibiscus and bougainvillea also carry childhood memories for Jedidah. A huge bougainvillea bush grew outside her family home, and as a child she would play house, pretending the unopened hibiscus buds were little “sausages” to feed her dolls. Seeing these flowers again in warmer places brings back those memories, and they have naturally found their way into her artwork.
The design captures the simple pleasure of picking bougainvillea and placing it in a wine glass, then enjoying that stolen moment in the sun. Deep burgundy, plum and purple are layered with touches of cream, blue and gold to create a warm, painterly statement.
Inspired by the Wine, Water & Wakening collection, the cushion celebrates sunny days, small pleasures and those moments when we pause long enough to notice the colour and beauty around us.
