The Story behind Dusk's Embrace
Part of Jedidah's Wine, Water and Wakening collection, Dusk's Embrace was inspired by the coast at the end of the day, in that short stretch between light and dark when the sky softens and the sea goes still. A woman has stopped at the shoreline, her flowing dress catching the evening light, with only the waves and the changing sky for company. Layered, textured brushwork gives movement to the water, while cool coastal tones meet the warm colours of dusk. The painting is about slowing down and allowing yourself a moment of escape, and the simple luxury of having nowhere else to be. Many of us rarely give ourselves that time, which is why this one is easy to come back to.
