Hibiscus and bougainvillea also carry childhood memories for Jedidah. A huge bougainvillea bush grew outside her family home, and as a child she would play house, pretending the unopened hibiscus buds were little “sausages” to feed her dolls. Seeing these flowers again in warmer places brings back those memories, and they have naturally found their way into her artwork.
Soft pink petals, watery blues and delicate painterly marks give the design a calm, sun-washed quality. Inspired by the Wine, Water & Wakening collection, it captures the pleasure of cooling water, flowers in bloom and a peaceful moment to yourself.
